Who's Jack cover analysis

Route of the eye:
The first thing that the eye reads, is the title ‘Who’s Jack’ You then go on to see the main image on the cover of the magazine, which is of Example, a singer that the target audience should immediately recognise.

Principle of thirds:
As the cover is very plain, there isn’t much detailing in the principle of thirds, except Example himself.

Hotspots:
The hotspots are located at various points on Example’s body, this is because he is the main focus of the cover, and people are attracted to the hotspots.

Fonts:
The use of fonts on the front cover isn’t very varied, due to the fact that there isn’t really any writing. The title is written in big, black writing, to draw attention, and the writing underneath is in a plain Aerial font, as is the issue date.

Mode of address:
The layout of this magazine is extremely plain, un-cluttered and symmetrical, suggesting that it is aimed at an older, more mature audience. From the cover, we are unable to tell weather the mode of address is formal or informal, due to the lack of writing, but ‘for the rest of us’ suggests that it has a slightly informal tone to it.

Colours:
The background of Who’s Jack magazine is a dark purple colour, with a black title, which doesn’t particularly stand out. The image of Example stands out the most, because he is wearing vibrant clothing which contrasts against the background. The colours used are quite plain, but bold and make a statement. There isn’t any strong evidence that the magazine is aimed at one sex, therefore we can conclude it is aimed at both male and females.
