RWD magazine double page spread analysis

Route of the eye:
The magazine hasn’t used the route of the eye for the double page spread very effectively, because the only major point it passes through is example’s face, which is because the article is about him, and this will appeal to the target audience as they will recognise him.

Principle of thirds:
The middle principle of thirds contains the writing on the page, whereas the one on the right goes straight through the middle of example, drawing attention to him.

Hotspots:
The hotspots for the double page spread have been put to good use. The top left hotspot has the big E, which is a main feature of the page. The t op right hotspot is in the middle of Example’s face, which is something the target audience will be attracted too. The bottom left hotspot is on the only bit of writing on the page, and the bottom right is on example’s clothing, and fashionable clothes will draw in an audience.

Fonts:
There isn’t really a variety of fonts used on this double page spread. The ‘e’ is written in big to attract attention, with the rest of the word essential written inside it. The writing on the left page is also written vertically, to add an edge to it. All of the writing on the page is written in white, to stand out from the background.

Colours:
Following on from the contents page, the use of colours is very basic and clean looking, but with this double page spread, the background is black with white writing. They have added blue stripes to make the page slightly more appealing, and example’s clothing blends in with the background.

Mode of address:
The mode of address for these pages in the magazine is quite formal, and with the colours being clean, and the layout non-cluttered, we can assume it is aimed at an older target audience.
